The Scottish Democratic Alliance was registered with the Electoral Commission as a political party in 2009. Between 2009 and 2012 the SDA functioned primarily as a Think Tank, researching and developing draft policies which Scotland will require post Independence. Draft policies for many of the key areas of statehood have now been achieved.
At the SDA AGM in 2012 the decision was made to become an active political party with the objective of achieving seats in the Scottish Parliament and to contest the European Parliamentary elections.
During January 2013, the SDA executive held a series of discussions to determine the re-structuring required to operate as an active political party.
Details of the re-structured organisation and areas where further participation is desired from members will be advised shortly.
